Nothing is simple or complex. It is our attitude which describes our experience of something as simple or complex. Sometimes, the heuristics compel you to look at something which is considered simple by many, as complex. Also, the mind has ways to trick you into believing something simple is very complex and vice versa.
The mental state of someone is a decisive element in determining his/her outlook to a given task as a simple or a complex one. Although one might possess the aptitude needed for the task, the mind has this hideous trick of obfuscating the situation by desutorily putting forth all kinds of non-sense arguments to persuade you in believing cutting an apple is as hard as cutting a solid iron ball. It isn't for nothing that they say "attitude not aptitude determines your altitude".
The best one can do to realize the true nature of anything is to be aware of the situation. Meditation as a means of increasing awareness might seem elusive but instead of just increasing mental alertness, it provides several lagniappes, whose importance is felt throughout the life-time of an individual but is ineffable to explain!
