Burn the ships technique

In 1519, Captain Hernán Cortés landed in Veracruz to begin his great conquest. Upon arriving, he gave the order to his men to burn the ships.
It was very easy for him to keep a ship or two reserved for himself to escape but no he sabotaged each and every ship and you know the reason why?
- Retreat is easy when options are available.
By burning the ships, Cortés eliminated all the chances of a retreat or back-off and now they were compelled to fight the war with all their might as this was their only choice.
In our life, we might not face a situation so grave but the symbolic analogy can be surely implemented. We need to identify which are the ships that might show us a temporary recluse to hide in. We have to destroy them. For only then would we be able to focus our mind on absolutely one thing which we are supposed to focus on. It might mean switching off your phones while working, or being inactive on FaceBook or WhatsApp etc. You have to identify the ships yourself and burn them right away.
